Our Story
NTS delivers tailor-made power and industrial transformers to customers both in Norway and worldwide. With around 30 employees and an annual production capacity of up to fifteen units, we combine strong technical expertise with highly efficient operations.
Our history goes back to 1920 through our roots in Richard Pfeifer and National Industri. When National Industri became part of ABB and the Sarpsborg plant was closed in 1994, a group of skilled employees chose to carry the legacy forward. Norsk Trafo Service was established in 1996 to ensure that transformer manufacturing and know-how would continue in Norway.
Key milestones in our growth include the move to a new factory at Torpebaugen 4 in Sarpsborg in 2004, and a major plant upgrade during the winter of 2017/2018 that significantly increased capacity. In 2026, a new factory will be completed, providing two and a half times today’s production and service capacity and enabling us to begin manufacturing transformers up to 132 kV.
We are a medium-sized company with a big mindset. Low administrative overhead and high efficiency make us competitive, while we maintain a strong focus on building internal competence. Every transformer we produce is fully customized, and our customers experience a knowledgeable, flexible, and service-oriented partner.
Over nearly three decades, we have built a reputation for quality and reliability. Our mission is to deliver transformers and services that combine modern technology with the solid experience that has guided us from the very beginning.
